It’s the Buxton Memorial Fountain in Victoria Tower Gardens next to the Houses of Parliament, (originally constructed in Parliament Square, removed in 1940 and placed in its present position in 1957. It was commissioned by Charles Buxton MP to commemorate the emancipation of slaves in 1834, dedicated to his father Thomas Fowell Buxton, and designed by Gothic architect Samuel Sanders Teulon (1812–1873) in 1865).
Spot on Flameproofmoth. You win again, people will start talking but hey, it’s out there for everybody to have a shot. The vouchers are yours with a £5 bonus chucked in for giving such a detailed description of the memorial, nice.
We’ll be in touch with you to arrange collection.
Everybody else – don’t be shy, have a go…..we’ll run more small comps in the months ahead.
